MAKING HISTORY

From the early Maori occupancy 700 years ago, to the planting of a village in 1866 to the forming of NZ’s seventh city in 1930 Palmy (as we fondly call it) or Papaioea continues to stretch and grow. Hope Vineyard is part of the city landscape and is playing her part in the life of this vibrant city.

CREATIVITY

Whilst we can’t claim that Peter Jackson, Tim Finn or even Bic Runga came from here, Palmerston North has an increasingly vibrant arts and music scene boasting kiwi greats such as Judy Bailey and Tom Scott.

BUT THERE’S MORE

A third of Palmy is aged 15-30. 90% of the population do not attend church. We’ve a rep for being a student city but also a gang, domestic violence and ethnically diverse city. That makes Palmy a complex and urgent mission field.
